Happy Birthday Nolan!
I’ve been on another Pirate adventure since I saw you at New Year’s Eve. I went to Florida and signed on to the crew of a whaling ship called “China Blubber”. We sailed through the Bahama Islands on our way to Japan and were attacked by Pirates!
The Pirates took over the ship and I didn’t wait to find out what would happen next. I slipped over the side and swam to the shore of a tiny island. None of my shipmates made it. They all sailed off with the Pirates and left me marooned. There were a few natives on the island and they were very nice to me. They fed me fish and coconuts and told me stories about buried pirate treasure.
I made friends with the chief, Bang Long Gong, and with his witch doctor, Bong Bole Bum. They always talked about the treasure buried on their island. Bong Bole Bum told me that he could work an ancient magic spell that would lead me to where the pirate treasure is buried. He said that if the magic worked, I would have to share the treasure with a boy who is 5 years old. I said, “Holy Smokes! Nolan is going to be five-years-old.” to the Witch Doctor, and he said, “That’s perfect. Let’s start the dance!”
The natives built a huge fire, played their drums real loud, and began hopping as high as they could. They were singing, too. I hopped and sang with them, but I didn’t know the words. While the party was going-on, Bong Bole Bum went into his grass hut. In the morning he came out with a map to where the treasure was buried.
I found the treasure, Nolan! It’s in this box that has never been opened. You have to open it on your birthday.
Love from the Old Sea Dog, Grandpa
Happy Birthday, Nolan. It must be neat to have a pirate for a grandpa! Especially one that gives you a buried treasure for your birthday…
